I love random holiday weekends. No, not because they usually come with a paid day off work, not because it means I’m sometimes taking a vacation or traveling to spend time with friends and family. I love random holidays for the times I’m NOT traveling and I don’t have any plans because that means I get an extra day to focus on my business.
Because I have a full-time job, I work on this blog and my other businesses in the morning before work, during lunchtime, in the evenings, and on the weekends. I basically use any spare minute I can squeeze out of each day to get some work done. While I am pretty good at staying organized and keeping up with everything, getting an extra random day off from my full-time job means I get a an entire extra day to focus on my blog, Etsy shop and freelance clients. I love using this time to catch up as well as work on those items that always get pushed down the to-do list due to one reason or another. I also use this time to work ahead to save myself some time in the following days and weeks as well as look at bigger picture things like my goals and resolutions.
I’ve talked before about how to use holidays in your marketing but I also love using holidays to sneak in some extra work time. But don’t worry, I don’t spend every holiday holed up in my apartment, chugging cuban coffee, and staring bleary-eyed at my laptop. There are a lot of holidays where I’m traveling for family vacations, to attend friends’ weddings or bachelorette parties, or just having a little getaway of our own! However, on those few and precious long weekends where I don’t have prior commitments, I love to steal back an extra day to work on my hustle.
Do you work on holidays or do you unplug and take time off to relax?
