These days have been really busy. With summer wrapping up we are getting closer and closer to our wedding! I feel like my multi-tasking and time management skills are being put to the test between work, side projects, wedding planning and still finding some time for fun. I’m sure we’re in for a great, albeit busy, fall. The weather here in New York is just starting to flirt with the idea of cooling off and it’s been gorgeous outside the last few days. These Days I’m…
I never say no to historical fiction, especially if it focuses on WWII-era, but this book was the best I’ve read in a while. War Brides focuses on five women living in England during the second world war. They all come from very different places and backgrounds, but work together to help the allies, their town, their families and each other during the toughest years of the war. This story has the ups and downs common in WWII historical fiction but some interesting tid bits that I admit, I hadn’t read about before. It’s a fast paced and easy read great for any late summer traveling.
I’ve been wanting to watch The Sopranos for a while and this summer I finally decided to dive in. The episodes are each 45 minutes to an hour and there are six seasons so this is definitely a time commitment. But so worth it! The good thing is that every season is available on HBO Go. Everyone talks about how great this show is and they are not exaggerating. I can’t count how many times I’ve found myself saying one more episode while trying to justify staying awake another hour and the fact that I know I’ll be tired the next day. If you’re looking for a long-term show to catch up on, this is definitely my pick.
If you’re looking for a show that’s just starting up, I highly suggest Mr. Robot on USA. Right now the entire season is available to watch on their website, you just have to login with your cable provider. I’m on episode 6 of 9 right now and the season is almost finished. The season finale was originally supposed to air this week but USA pulled it due to a sensitive scene that they said is reminiscent of the tragic reporter shootings this week. They have not yet announced if they will cut the scene or wait to air the episode. One thing is for sure, this show is outside of USA’s normal offerings. It’s a great mix of tech, crime (digital and physical) and NYC. The main character, Elliot’s apartment is set just a couple of blocks from my apartment! This is a great new show that doesn’t require much catching up.
If you can believe it I had my first Mister Softee of the summer this week! Every time I wanted one it seemed like there were absolutely no trucks around and every time I didn’t have time for ice cream they seemed to be everywhere! This one was vanilla ice cream with a dipped hard chocolate shell and peanuts and it was freaking delicious. What’s your favorite Mister Softee order?
This little cutie really wanted to join us on our Margarita March last weekend! Here is some more evidence that Goldens are the cutest.
We’re hitting the beach this weekend for some much needed sand, sun and fun. What are your weekend plans?
