The summer is quickly coming to a close and I finally made it to the beach! Coney Island is one of my favorite places in New York. It’s easy to get to and once you’re there you have this awesome combination of tourists, young people and local families just out there enjoying the weather, the water and the boardwalk.
Coney Island is one of those places that reminds you of the past, even before you step onto the sand. There’s Luna Park with classic rides like the Cyclone surrounded by games and delicious fair foods. There are also small shops that are reminiscent of Coney Islands beginnings back in the early 1900 with fortune telling booths and even a freaks and oddities show. Please note that the “freaks” consisted of a guy with a bunch of tattoos and a girl with a big snake around her neck…When you get hungry there’s Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs and a slew of other newer food offerings. Plus like any beach with a boardwalk, it’s great for people watching!
