These Days I’m trying to find time to squeeze in work whenever I can. Running multiple side hustles while working full-time is tough as it is but I find it most difficult when my personal life gets busy. I can always be a hermit and get home from work at night to work on my businesses for a few hours and use my weekend to get caught up or work ahead on freelance work, but when I’m traveling or when friends or family are visiting, it’s much more difficult for me to find the time to get everything done. I can’t NOT spend time with family when they’re staying with us and there’s only so much working time available when you’re traveling (complications always inevitably come up and get in the way of your travel/working time). So, I’m using a lot of strategies to be as productive as possible, especially when I’m tired from all that activity!
These Days I’m…
A few of my besties and I decided it would be fun to start a book club and first on the list was Touch by Courtney Maum. While it was a novel, this book was really interesting because it takes a look at how we interact with technology in both our personal and professional lives and how it effects every aspect of our life. For anyone interested in technology and what it means for our future, I would definitely recommend this one! I like to try to mix fiction and non-fiction reading. Fiction is definitely my guilty pleasure and it’s tough to say no to an intriguing summary!
HBO has been teasing it’s newest show, The Deuce, starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaal for a while now but it turns out they released the pilot episode a couple of weeks early and it did not disappoint! The plot focuses on NYC and the prostitution industry that ran rampant in the 1970s. James Franco actually plays a set of twins in this one and I would definitely recommend it next time you’re looking for a good new show to watch!
Like I said, it’s been a whirlwind of traveling and having people in town visiting and there’s no signs of that stopping for the next 8 months or so for us. Last week we actually had both! We traveled to The Berkshires for a wedding (complete with llamas!) and then we had family in town. Our trip to the mountains was really short but it’s definitely someplace I would love to go back to. The Inn that we stayed at was totally isolated on a farm and was completely charming with the most gorgeous views and we were lucky to have perfect weather. It almost made up for the 4 hour car ride each way cramped in a tiny rental car that was packed to the gills with people and luggage…almost.
What are you up to These Days?
